I know que the holidays are just around the corner and that this particualy time of the year is usually devoted exclusively to family, pero for so many of us, all that extra time off is a perfect opportunity para un viaje con la ninas! Amiright? YAS! We all need a little time to escapar and live it up with our friends. Could be a beach getaway to escape the cold, or maybe a ski resort weekend to lean into the Winter chill… either way it’s a perfect way to end the year with a bang. A yummy girls trip to cap off el ano! Once you settle on the “where” of your trip, you’ve got to move on to the WHAT. “What do I pack?“. π AhΓ mismo, THAT’S where I come in! Girls trip packing essentials, I got you boo!

I’ve written once about general packing essentials for any trip, but this time I’m honing in on a packing guide that details las cosas que I think you will need to bring with you for a girl’s trip in particular! And yes, the way you pack for a girl’s trip is different.
No mucho, pero, there are some *extra* things to consider when you are going away with your girls!
Por ejemplo, you may decide to go OUT con las chicas one night, and get a little LIT- hence, you need a sexy dress. Or, you might wanna bring an item that you all have and match for photos, o el reverso- something that’s truly different that sets your apart for that Insta photo shoot. What about items that you know ALL of you will need (like bobby pins, face wipes, or sunscreen)- bring un poquito extra so there’s enough in case someone forgets.
Packing for a getaway with the girls really is a teeny bit diferente, but like I said, I got you.

1. Your Favorite Beauty Products
Now listen, no puedes ir on a trip (any trip) without your own special bag of goodies; your must-have toiletries! It might seem weird that I’d start my list with something that you’d probably already pack, but here me out…
Una cosa es packing for a normal trip- you may leave behind some non-essentials or just go without your normal essentials to make room in your luggage. Hay personas that try real hard to pack as light as possible (that’s not me at ALL! Ha!) but even those people have to bring the good stuff when they go out with their pals! Porque?
Well, I’ll tell you why….
Girls love to share their stuff! Claro que si! And girls trips are a perfect opportunity to show your pals the great products you’ve been using- the face cream that tightens your skin so nice, the perfume that smells so good, el shampoo que es tan fenomenal! You get to play show and tell, make a believer out of tus amiguitas and then also take home some ideas for some products you need to get on board with too! BOOM!

2. A Sexy Dress
Un traje bien sexy is a must have on most trips, but ESPECIALMENTE on a girls trip! It’s vital, crucial, and very necessary! La razΓ³n es: you will (more than likely) be going out one night of your trip and you need to look bomb when that happens! It’s that simple.
You know I’m right. A night out on the town is almost mandatory for a true viaje de la chicas… so come prepared, boo.
And don’t scrimp on the “sexy”! π
Who other than your pals to help encourage you to own every bit of your sexiness? Who better que tus amiga to boost your confidence level to 10 so you can walk out in that black little number you’ve been dying to wear with the utmost sass? That’s what our girls are for. Tienes un ready-made cheer squad ahΓ contigo, take advantage!
You know what else? Go HARD. TΓΊ sabes how we all have that outfit that is just a little fancier than we usually wear on our typical nights out? The one you can’t give away because es tan perfecto? Pull that dress out and dust it off! Hazme caso! Get your girls to snazz it up too!
Then, REALLY hit the town and set it on fire! AYE!!!
MY current fave to bring with me on girls trips is a cami dress I got from Shein (pictured). Lo adoro! It’s slinky, It’s sexy and super light & breezy. I feel like a million friggin bucks when I have it on. If I’m honest, the reason que es mi “go-to” is cuz of the plunging neck line… I never have the gumption to wear it at home, but my girl’s inspire me to walk in my own greatness, so I always pack it.
Creo que that’s evidence enough…

3. A Cute Floppy Hat
I feel pretty strongly about bringing, por lo menos, one hat on every trip I take.
They are, en mi opiniΓ³n, one of the most important items on my girl’s trip essentials packing list. I’ve written about this important packing item extensively… because I KNOW it’s power!
Yea, I said it. Hats have power!
Mira, te explico: Hats are cute, te dan a little something extra when you’re traveling; a little oomph to every outfit. So that’s one reason. Otra razΓ³n to bring un sombrero is for sun protection. Vacays with the girls often include sun bathing, pool time, outdoor strolls, and brunch – all of which can create oportunidades para sunburn. You don’t want that, do you? Cover up, mija.
Another solid reason to carry along a floppy hat, is hair protection. All my brown girls, black queen, and curly girls- this is para ti! Ya’ll know the weather just don’t be wanting to work with us sometimes, and just comes for our fresh blowouts! It’s a damn shame que no lo podemos controlar… but hats can save even the worst of hair days.
Wanna know what I do? If my hair has transformed into a sweaty, wet, or frizzy mess while I’m vacationing con las chicas (like it did in this picture), I throw it up in a braid, top if off with a big hat, and pull on my shades.
Instantly, I look like a queen again. Put together, poised, y bien linda.
No one has to ever know what was happening under the hat! And *bonus* las fotos still come out looking fly AF, too! π
Bring a floppy hat when you roll out with the girls.
Maybe you won’t need it, but maybe your girl will. Bring it – everyone will benefit!

4. Bold Lip Color
There are so many reasons to bring bold lip color with you while you travel with your friends; muchas, my loves!
Lemme break it down for you: primero, a little pop of shine on your labios can make you feel confidant, like a bad bitch ready to take on the world! Which is EXACTLY what you are doing when you are traveling! Secondly, long nights of chatting till the wee hours of la manana can make even the cutest girls look haggard- lip color is a quick fix because it looks intentional and adds color to your face.
Y ΓΊltimamente, bold lipcolor looks fantastic in photos!
You KNOW that a bright lip or lack thereof can make or break a perfect picture.
Without it, es posible que you and the girls will look like a bunch of frumpy ladies, washed out , barely making it thru the day. With it, you immediately look fun, interesting, bomb! The brightness on your lippies translates to, “We’re having a great time, aren’t you jealous?” Its true, I don’t make the rules! π
Lissen, no estoy diciendo that you have to rock lipwear at ALL times, nah. That’s excessive and impractical. I’m just saying, it’s good to have for when you’re getting dolled up to go out, y tambien para cuando you’re taking pictures.
Now, I feel like it’s only right that I share with you MY tried and true favorite lip wear. La verdad es que, I just use one brand right now and it’s been that way for months: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink. Truthfully, it’s the only lip color that feels great on my lips and truly stays on all day… not to mention has a color concentration that SLAYS. Que te digo? I have it in like 8 colors!

5. A versatile jacket
Jackets are a must have.
Even the warmest places can get cool at night, and as we have already discussed, girls trip = saliendo en la noche. A jacket is a true girl’s trip essential, but you can’t just pack each cute one your have, hello… no space. Entonces, I think, I mean, I KNOW that the best way to go about it is to bring a jacket que es versatile for the entire trip.
Have I convinced you yet?
You gotta bring something algo that can both keep you warm on chilly nights, but that also brings a pop of style that goes with almost any ensemble in your suitcase. Tiene que ir con todo- in color and in style. The options are endless but my top three jacket choices for travel are the jean jacket, the light trench, and the leather jacket. No puedes fallar con esos; can’t go wrong with any of those.
You know what I’d do? Call up my girls whilst I’m packing, ask them what they are bringing and either match them (think of the cute pictures!) o puedes hacer otra cosa… you can have them bring one type, and you bring another, so you can trade off!
Brilliant, right?! Sharing clothes is TOTALLY fun!

6. Curling Iron
This one might seem like it’s out of left field? NO! Roll with me, amiga!
MencionΓ© earlier that hair is a wild card, it can do anything and so, Sis, you gotta be prepared to conquer it at a moments notice. For the sake of trip…For the sake of your sanity… for the sake of looking cute!:) HAHA. Sounds frivolous and high maintenance, but I don’t care.
Nadie tiene tiempo to just be worrying about frizz or fly-aways when we are supposed to be having fun! No sir! That’s where the curling iron comes in, es una soluciΓ³n rΓ‘pida for a bad hair day so that you can transition into your sassy nighttime look effortlessly!
Imagine coming in after strolling around outside all day, hair a sweaty damn mess, pero solamente tienes about 1 hour until dinner and with 4 girls and only one shower, you don’t have time to start the whole hair process from scratch. Welp, you guessed it! Pop on the curling iron and resusitate ese cabello!
The iron smoothes the hair AND is leans into the curls, thus making you look polished, poised, and pretty.
Didn’t I say that before? π Ha!
My personal favorite curling aparatus is the Bed Head Curling wand, I have it in like 3 different sizes. Big, Little, y littlest. Creeme when I tell you, I bring all three with me when I travel. Firstly, they are thin and easy to stuff into a suitcase. Segundo, it’s nice to have options depending on the level of curl I want and how much my hair needs rescuing. Thirdly, the littlest one is great to boost up my natural curls- y eso es un BONUS!

7. One “Totally You” Accessory
Yo pienso que girl’s trips are a great opportunity for us ladies to showcase some of our individuality.
That may seem like an oxymoron… a bunch of girls coming together just to stand out as an individuals. Wrong. Esas dos cosas aren’t mutually exclusive. Hear me out: one of the things that make girl groups so special is that they are comprised of wholly unique women, each with their own special gifts/looks/flava.
Each member of a girl gang has her own remarkable charm and energy.
That’s what makes the collective group interesting. Verdad?
So- my thought is: bring an item that is thoroughly and totally YOU on your girly trips! Be you! Showcase YOU! It can be a hat, a purse, a rocker tee. It can even be some Chuck Taylors or Air Force ones! Lo que sea that feels like YOUR VIBE, bring that item. Add that to your fashion ensembles while you’re out with the girls. It’s a way to showcase your personality and what YOU add to the group… which is something truly special (I know this!:).
My Go-To most Authentically “Joana” accessory are my Bamboo Gold Hoop Earrings.
The reason I love them is because I think the authentically showcase multiple facets of who I am: my Latinidad, my Bronx style, my flare for the dramatic, my ALOT-ness. Todo eso un just one pair of earrings!:) I love it!

8. A Bathing Suit that makes you feel FINE AF
Yes, bathing suits made the list. Y YES, I know that bathing suits put many of us in our feels because of how vulnerable they make us. What if we aren’t “beach body ready” before our trip? What if my bikini doesnt fit like it used to after the holiday season? BASURA! That’s trash and I’m here to say: you are radiant and you deserve to feel radiant while you are out with your ladies! Me oΓste?
But, you still need a cool bathing suit; it’s a girls trip essential!
So, the key is to bring one along que te hace sentir espectacular!
Swimming and sun bathing with your crew should make you feel empowered and FINE! So bring a suit que hace eso para ti, and try not to spend anytime focusing on any of the little flaws you normally obsess over. The bonus of being with your girls is that you got a ready-made hype squad right by your side.
They’re gunna do lo imposible to make you feel fierce as hell!
It’s dificil to find a swim suit that truly flatters you in a way that leaves you 1000 confidant. Those are rare, so when you find one… you wear it out! MY current fave is a triangle top bikini that I found at Target. First of all, it’s cheetah print- hello SASS. Y segundamente, it just FITS. It both covers everything AND displays all the things I want to show off. Tengo zero complaints. Neither does the Marido. *wink wink* π

9. Workout Clothes
Another girl’s trip essential that doesn’t usually get any love: workout gear. “Who wants to work out while they are on vacay,” you say? Well- some people do (I do), pero eso no es el punto. The point is that you will likely be doing some sort of physical activity on your trip and even if no te gusta exercisio, you will still need the gear to be ready to move around with your pals.
You gotta be preparada, just in case.
Activities that require work out gear: adventuring around the city- yoga pants and sneakers come in handy para eso. Also, hikes to see scenic views! TambiΓ©n, anything that involves nature, woods, parks. Imaginate, if you are gunna bike ride around a city, you can’t be sweating it out in a flowy dress! Come on, sis! You’re active on vacay a lot more than you realize, you need the gear.
Bringing a least one workout outfit– es vital.
My go-to brand is Fabletics, I’m a VIP member and love the perks I get as well as the quality of my gear! They wick away moisture, really flatter my shape, and hold everything in place while I move ( no matter how fast I move). That, y tambiΓ©n se ven bellos! The styles and colors that Fabletics has to offer are legit cute! Oh and bonus, almost all the pants have pockets and slots para tu cellular y tus llaves, so you can move with your hands free!

10. Your Sleepy time Essentials
What do you wear to sleep, mi amor? Que es la cosa que siempre usas at bedtime? An exfoliating face mask? Retinol under eye cream? A silk bonnet to protect your curls or braids? BRING IT! Bring all of it!
Mira, a girl’s trip is a perfect time to just DO YOU… 1000%.
Your amigas have their own beauty routines, things that they do every night before bed, too. Those things might be “embarrassing” (or not) on a first date or a first meeting… but not con tus mejores amigas! The bonus of traveling with your forever friends is that you don’t gotta pretend to be algo que no eres. You can show them who you are fully!
Wear that silk scarf, put on your pimple creme, wrap your hair in that doobie! It’s all good!
Lo bueno is that in doing your normal routine, you may also inspire one of your girls to try something nuevo as well. I learned how to protect my curls from a fellow curl friend who used a hair wrap. Tambien apprendΓ la importancia of using reusable makeup-removing cloth face wipes to clean my face from another amiga.

Girl’s trips are something I’ve always believed in.
I’ve written about them before because I truly believe en la importancia of getting away with your friends (female family members count too, hence the pic of me and my sweet baby girl:). It’s not just me either, science corroborates that statement.
It’s a proven fact, que un viaje con las ninas is a positive boost to your overall health. Stress levels go down, happy hormones abound, mental health gets a lift, and your overall sense of self takes a front seat.
Take that girls trip, boo!
Es bueno para nosotras to focus on that “me time” away from our families and our daily duties, and it doesn’t hurt for us to look & feel amazing while doing it! That’s why I wrote this post, so that we can be inspired to give ourselves permission para to live it up with our girls in a new place *and* be intentional about our style AT THE SAME TIME!
