Who doesn’t love a good “outfit of the day” Instagram pic? I mean, yo si! I love seeing how mis amigos come thru with their own personal style and flair while they explore el mundo. Seeing their fashion is like seeing a better glimpse of su ser, who they are on the inside.
That’s because style is an outward expression of each individual person, of YOU! Your personality, your vibe! It’s something importante to consider when you pack for a trip. Trust. Just look through some old travel fotos and you’ll agree. Great outfits can construir o destruir travel pictures that you wanna share with the world. A bad look can ruin memories of a beautiful place. And a killer look can make photos of a meh location appear maravilloso.
You know I’m right!
Why not make the most of that suitcase and pack items that make you feel preciosa y confidente? Why not opt to use travel an una oportunidad to pull out those long forgotten pieces from your wardrobe that pop with pizazz? All so that you can strut along new streets with a pep in your step! YAS!
At the end of the day, your style is a form of self care, no? Claro! So my suggestion is to really think through the pieces that you bring en tus viajes and make your looks FABULOUS!
Here are a few ways to make the most of your “outfit of the day”…
1. Comfy+ Fly=Magic
Wear something que te hace sentir comfortable, yet BEAUTIFUL! Algo that is practical for the place that you are in y para the weather that is being forecasted, but that makes you feel FOINE. Aint nobody got time to feel frumpy cuando they are paying for a vacation. NOPE. That’s a wasted opportunity!
Look how you wanna feel!
Si te quieres sentir exotica and fun, wear something that reflects that. Go out with funky colors, patterns, accessories, and makeup that packs a punch. If you wanna give off simple, casual vibes, haz lo. Rock that oversized sweater and crocheted beanie. The thing I wanna stress is that you can be cute AND comfortable at the same time while traveling. No tienes que sacrificar uno para el otro; you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.
It is possible SLAY and still be practical.
Por ejemplo, I love to wear my white Converse All Stars when I travel, because they look good with almost every outfit… es verdad. BUT, they are also* hella comfy to stroll around in. Double function. #winning
Don’t live in Frumpville because tu piensas que to be an “authentic traveler” you have to wear hiking boots and flannel. Nah man! If that’s your aesthetic, pues- que bueno, but that’s not mandatory. It doesn’t make you a “real one”.
Wear what makes you feel awesome. And good. π

2. Dust it off!
Use travel as an opportunity to wear that piece or ese accesorio that you haven’t touched in years! Dust that thing off! Tu sabes de que hablo. I’m talking about the item in your closet that isn’t really practical for everyday life, but is still super adorable, so you never throw it away.
You know the one…. that sparkly clutch you walk past every day but never use, or those boots that you splurged on a few years back and only wore once. Find that thing, dust it off, and pack it for your next aventura!
Para mi, “that thing” is my collection of hats and headscarves. I love them but as a homeschool mami who doesn’t get out much during this pandemic, I have no reason to put them on. If you’ve followed me for a while, tu sabes how much I talk about my head wear. I’m obsessed. Y por eso, I never leave home without one. I pack one for every viaje. Also on my list of items I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to estrenar: my new Eddie Bauer parka coat that the hubby got me for Christmas. I pulled it out for a recent trip to the mountains, y no queria quitarmelo (I didn’t wanna take it off). Mainly cuz, I’d been WAITING anxiously for the chance to wear it!
My point is: this is the moment! Pull out that funky lip color that doesn’t work for your day job! Whip out that dope ass beret that you never feel right for running errands!

3. Self Care Baby!

Fashion is just otra forma de self care. It is our way of honing in on ourselves por un ratito and giving ourselves the pampering we deserve. I feel strongly about this. Being intentional about “tu look” while you travel is just another way to show up for yourself while you are on-the-go.
Tomando that extra 15 mins to style your hair, to apply that bomb makeup en tu cara , or to select the perfect hat to go with our outfit… it’s quite literally SELF CARE. No es vanidad! I repeat, it is not vain to want to look good. It’s true self love. Its the equivalent of putting your best foot palante, or forward. π
Which brings me to mi proximo point. Travel is grueling sometimes. It can literally kick your ass. Unos dias, your energy is totally zapped and the bags under your eyes from sleeping in a new place are crazy huge. I would argue, que ESOS DIAS are the the days you should be the MOST diligent about making time for you. 10 mins is all it takes para sentirte empoderada (empowered).
Trust me on this, get cute!
You’ll feel better about tu dia. I always feel mejor about facing new challenges cuando I look good. AND *bonus* people will catch that badass vibe… and react in kind.

4. Keep Insta in Mind
Wear something that you don’t mind seeing in alot of your travel fotos.

If you’re anything like me, you may take 100 pictures of one sightseeing-filled day. Eso es MUCHO, I know. But consider the exposure for that one outfit. Now imagine if you hated the way it looked on you? Like, DAMN!
So, my tip es to make sure you love it. Don’t even bring algo in your suitcase that is unflattering. Deja eso en casa! Leave the awkward fitting clothes at home. You don’t need to be readjusting all day, hell nah. Ese awkwardness will affect *how* you take travel pictures. The more confidant que te sientes in what your choose to wear for the day (whether in fit or estilo), the more that WOW factor will radiate in your pictures.
Confidence shows and it’s infectious!

5. Keep Changing It Up
Try to wear a different style por cada dia of your vacay. Mix it up! Play with variety. Play up every aspecto de tu amazing, multi-faceted personality!
Not only is this practice divertido, pero it makes for a diverse pile of photos to use for later. Nobody wants 100’s of pics of themselves wearing the same tired yoga pant and tee shirt combo. Por supuesto que no, it’s boring! You’re better than that! We’re all better than that!
Otra cosa is that mixing up your travel style, gives you something fun to look forward to every morning. What vibe am I gunna be today? Fierce? Boss bitch? Sassy? Classy? Chic? Retro? Los opciones son endless!
I feel some type of way about the scarf, I’ve even written about why it’s the perfect travel accessory before. Anyway, one of the reasons I love them es porque they have the ability to cambiar the total aesthetic of an outfit by just adding one piece! Shoes have el mismo power. Jewelry too! My fake nose ring from MermaidsBeadsJewelry is such a fun accessory to bring on a trip with me bc everytime I put it on, BOOM…. bad bitch status!

My “outfit of the day” es una de mis cosas favoritas about traveling. I love fashion and it’s ability to provide both self care and confidance. Yo se que, that may not be the case for everyone but what is universal is the desire to feel good…. the desire to look good, especially while on vacaciones. Most of us wanna look back on our fotos de our travel adventures and smile, not cringe!
